Blue Ocean Canvas

Structure: Map the industry’s competitive factors along two axes (value offered vs. cost), comparing the company’s value curve with that of its competitors. Identify opportunities to create uncontested market spaces through a systematic analysis of what to eliminate, reduce, increase, and create in the competitive positioning.

Purpose: To outpace direct competitors by creating new areas of demand, thereby rendering competition irrelevant. This allows companies to move away from traditional defensive strategies in favor of an offensive approach focused on value and differentiation.

Applications: Blue Ocean Strategy, business model innovation, market entry in saturated markets, category reinvention, strategic diversification, and the development of radically innovative value propositions for underserved customer segments.

Business Canvas

Structure: the Business Model Canvas is an analytical tool consisting of nine key blocks organized into two main sections: Customer Value and Resources and Processes. The BMC has become a standard in modern strategic consulting, often combined with the Value Proposition Canvas to explore product-market fit in greater depth, and with Lean/Agile approaches for the empirical validation of business hypotheses.

Purpose: to visualize the entire business model, the relationships and interdependencies among the various elements of the business, to innovate, to communicate corporate strategy, to quickly test and validate business hypotheses, and to compare different business models (our own, competitors’, and strategic alternatives).

Applications: startups and new ventures, strategic innovation, competitive analysis, business planning, strategic repositioning.

Value Proposition Canvas

Structure: the Value Proposition Canvas separates yet connects two sets of information: on one side, the Customer Profile (jobs, pains, gains); on the other, the Value Map (products/services, pain relievers, gain creators), which describes how the offering creates specific value for that segment.

Purpose: to design value propositions that precisely meet customer needs and validate market hypotheses.

Purpose: In contexts of extreme uncertainty and risk, such as those we face today, the Business Model Canvas has evolved into additional models designed to manage uncertainty during the planning phase; among these is the Lean Canvas. The Lean Canvas focuses more on problems and solutions, without placing too much emphasis on customers and partners.

Applications: support for startups and companies entering new markets where they are unfamiliar with the structure and dynamics and are unlikely to have established customer relationships.

Purpose: The primary purpose is to provide entrepreneurs with a practical and dynamic tool, not a formal and verbose document. The Lean Business Plan facilitates rapid cycles of testing: targeted actions are implemented, results are measured, and assumptions and priorities are updated. This reduces the risk of investing time and capital in unrealistic forecasts, enabling faster and more informed decisions.

Applications: customer experience design, funnel optimization, omnichannel strategies, service design, and identifying quick wins.

Purpose: to solve complex, multidimensional problems through structured creativity, genuine empathy, and rapid experimentation. The model fosters both radical and incremental innovation, reducing risks and accelerating the time-to-market for effective solutions.

Ambiti applicativi: Innovazione di prodotto e servizio, experience design e customer journey mapping, problem solving complesso e sfide strategiche, agile transformation, business model innovation.

Ambiti applicativi: ricerca qualitativa e consumer insight, sviluppo e validazione di personas evolute, co-design e stakeholder engagement, strategia contenuti e messaging personalizzato, customer journey mapping, user experience design e service innovation.

Finalità: ottimizzare conversioni, engagement e comportamenti desiderati attraverso design persuasivo etico e evidence-based.
